So, the very last Harry Potter book is almost upon us... I am excited about that.
I am interested to hear everyones predictions about the book and to see what you are hoping is to happen.

Ok, first things first.

Who are the readers and who arn't?

Predictions?

Dreams and Hopes?

I'll wait and post mine after you all have had a few days to post.

I haven’t read Half Blood, so I’m only going with what I know through the first 4 and a half books (didn’t finish Phoenix)

Harry won’t die. Ron will.

Harry hasn’t gone through 7 children books to defeat Vold, and then keel over right at the end, and Hermione is a great character, so that leaves Ron.

Yes; my means of deduction is dismal. But that’s my prediction. :p

My prediction is Harry is going to die.

My reason which you should not read unless you've read all the books:

Harry is a horocrux. The scar on his head is the same kind of scar a horocrux leaves. So in order to kill Voldy Harry will have to die. This is backed up in the prophesy because it says Harry has something that Voldy doesn't understand. Harry thinks it's love, but it is actually self sacrifice. His mother's self sacrifice is what made him toxic to Voldy. It wouldn't surprise me if Neville is the one to kill Harry in order to kill voldy thus making the prophecy about both of them all along.

Other deaths: I think Molly Weasly is going to die. She has been so worried about everyone else in her family dying that it would be unexpected and devasting. I think Hagrid might not make it either solely for the reason that if you kill someone like Hagrid it makes it seem like anyone else could die too. I'm nor ruling our Ron as a possibility because he did sacrafice himself in the chess game in book one, but I think the self scarificing theme might be more of re-inforcing my reasons for why Harry is going to die.

Um...yes, I am a geek and have thought about this way too much.

I am going to go an the record and just say that, I disagree about Harry. I honestly don't think that she is going to kill him. I think that Lupin dies and I think that Tonks will die.

Those are the only two deaths I forsee in this book. Everyone else will live. I just cannot see anyone being able to kill Hagrid. He had like 6 people trying to curse him in OOTP and it was all for not.

I don't think that Harry is a horocrux, because Voldemort was not trying to keep harry alive when he cursed him, he used the Avada Kadavera. Plus, I thought the horocrux had to be an object, not a person. I could be wrong.

Oh, and I am in no way trying to dismiss your theory. The great part about these books is she has made it to where anything is possible.

All I know is, Harry had better become at least somewhat of a badass before the end of this series. If he isn't bad ass, I'll be al little pissed.

There is no rule that horocrux can't be a person. I didn't say Voldy intended to make him a horocrux. I think Regulus might have done something to Voldy so that instead of killing Harry it made him a horocrux. Voldy was going to make Harry's death the big kill to make his last horocrux.

FanGirl

Umm...You did figureout RAB is Regulus Black right? and that the locket is in Grimult place. Harry mentions in book 5 that there is a locket in a drawer he couldn't remove.

It has occurred to me yes that RAB was Regulus.

Well, my problem the Harry-Horocrux is that Voldemort could not stand to be inside of Harry's head longer than a few moments, then he had to go. Assuming that Harry would have to be alive for him to " take over." I imagine that it would be a serious problem. I don't see a dead rotting HP corpse being a very good horocrux. So, even if he was a horocrux, I don't think that voldy could take inhabiting him. Harry would when that battle.

I know there are no rules, for me it was just an obvious no. I mean that would be a waist of difficult magic. I could be wrong though, this is just what goes through my head.

SPOILERS!!!! SPOILERS!!!!!

Ok Possible movie Spoilers if you have not read the Book!!

Ok, in OOTP when Voldemort tries to possess Harry. He couldn't...It was too unbarable for him to be inside of Harry. So, if Harry is alive as a horocrux I do not think Voldemort will survive. I think just being inside of Harry would be more torture than being dead.

If Voldomort Kills Harry, he will have destroyed the horocrux in my mind because I do not think that a dead body would be a good Horocrux.

This smakes since in my mind, but then again I am a weirdo.

Also, page 844. For Dumbledore's explination on how Voldemort can't bare to possess Harry.

( By the way, I am not trying to be an arse about it, I just went back to re-read the chapter to make sure I had read it right )

Overall, I like Jon's show better. Colbert's interviewing style can get a tad annoying. Colbert is still classic though and when he starts to break up laughing about something, it's awesome. He always tries to fight it. Unlike Jon who just caves to the laughter and puts the sheet over his face. You can almost always tell with either of them when it's the first time they have seen a graphic or not.

Damn! I missed it.

I usually watch both shows. It just so happens that I have just now started watching " The Office." I know I am a tard, and very late to the party. But I am here now, that show is damn funny. Anyway, so I started watching all the episodes this week, and just finished season three tonight.

It could just be cos he's new to me, whereas I've been watching Stewart on and off for a while now.
Colbert hooked me from the first second of the first show I saw, which was the one on the 4th.

Voldy as a father..... ( I picked this up on a fan site.)

Voldy: Just where in the hell do you think you're going dressed like that?!

Judy: Um... well... no where, Dad.... Just meeting some friends.

Voldy: Not dressed like that you're not! Go right back upstairs and change in to your robes!

Judy: But Daaaad, NOBODY wears robes to hang out in anymore! Haven't you seen the last two Harry Potter movies??

Voldy: WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT SAYING THAT IN MY PRESENCE?!

Judy: *sigh* Sorry... "You Know Who's" movies?

Voldy: That's right... Now I will not have my daughter running around like some filthy muggle!

Judy: UGH!! I can NOT believe this!!! Lisa's dad lets her go out like this!

Voldy: Well, I am not Lisa's father! And if I was, I would not be an insignificant mudblood like he is! He is expendable! EVERYONE IS EXPENDABLE!!!!

Judy: O my god, you talk like you're above everyone, Dad! Jeez, Grandpa was a M-U-G-G-L-E! Helllooooo?!?!?!

Voldy: AVADA KEDAVRA!!! Oh, shit. I'm sorry sweety that was a reflex. Sweety...

Mrs. Voldy: Honey, where's Judy?

Voldy: AVADA KEDAVRA!!! Shit!!!

So here's my $0.02:

First of all, it's spelled "horcrux," so drop the extra "o" people :)

I DO believe that Harry's scar is a horcrux, for several reasons. Dumbledore specifically said that Voldemort saved making horcruxes for important or significant deaths, and what could be more significant than the death of the only person who can kill him? Lilly's sacrifice made the avada cadavra rebound on Voldemort, and whatever spell Voldemort normally used to create a horcrux created the scar on Harry's forehead instead of in whatever item Voldemort intended. The piece of Voldemort's soul embedded in that scar is what connects Harry to Voldemort and lets him feel his emotions and see his actions. I think that the item Voldemort intended to use to hold the horocrux is in the rubble of Harry's original home in Godric's Hollow. By the way, don't you think it's funny that his parents lived in Godric's Hollow? As in Godric Griffindor? Maybe Harry is a descendant?

Now, remember how Dumbledore told Harry at the end of Prisoner of Azkaban that he may be very happy someday that he had saved Wormtail, because now he has created a bond with him and that Wormtail owes him? I think Wormtail will end up telling Harry how to destroy the horcrux on/in him without destroying himself to repay the debt.

I think Hagrid may die, and perhaps Lupin, and maybe Mr. Weasley or one of the other Weasley brothers. I don't think Harry, Ron, or Hermione will die, but it's also possible that the reason there will be no more books after this one is that both Harry and Voldemort die. I hope that's not true, though.

Oh, I also heard somewhere that Gideon and Fabian Prewett were Molly Weasley's brothers; Prewett being her maiden name.

What do you think?

You think so? Wow, see, I really don't see a difference in whether or not someone is a regular or a newbie. So what you're saying is, if I would have repeatedly misspelled a word, and you corrected me, it would have been ok because I was a newbie, but because you're (I assume) a long time seasoned member you get to fuck up at will and I can't say anything about it? Bullcrap. What, is there some grandfather clause that if you've been a member for a certain amount of time or made a certain amount of posts that you can do no wrong on this board in the eyes of a freshmeat? Precisely what I would have expected from some asshat who calls himself the orgasmatron.

For the Un-Initiated and the Un-Baptised:

I am the one, Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping hand
My image is of agony, my servants rape the land
Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain
Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name
Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law
My name is called religion, sadistic, sacred whore.

I twist the truth, I rule the world, my crown is called deceit
I am the emperor of lies, you grovel at my feet
I rob you and I slaughter you, your downfall is my gain
And still you play the sycophant and revel in you pain
And all my promises are lies, all my love is hate
I am the politician, and I decide your fate

I march before a martyred world, an army for the fight
I speak of great heroic days, of victory and might
I hold a banner drenched in blood, I urge you to be brave
I lead you to your destiny, I lead you to your grave
Your bones will build my palaces, your eyes will stud my crown
For I am Mars, the god of war, and I will cut you down.

Were you trying to be cool with the Monty Python reference? You failed.

Ooh, THE LIST, I'm positively quaking in my boots. Not.

My response to you did not imply that you had not read my comment or had no opinion of it. Obviously, you had a very orgasmic opinion, didn't you? What I said was how strange it was that a person who had not made the error I corrected (yes, and in the *first* line of my post, how dare I, how rude, why don't you just string me up by my thumbs?) is the person who is upset about it. I still insist your complaint has no real merit based on the fact that, as you insist on referring to me repeatedly as "noob," the greater portion of your anger is because a *new poster* dared to make the correction, and in the *first line* of my post. First off, everyone here was a new poster at one point and I'm pretty damn sure they didn't walk around on egg shells for their first few months (ooh, you corrected my spelling, you're BANNED!), and second, who gives a crap where in the message I put it? People were posting on a subject that was of some matter of import to them, otherwise why would they bother posting about it in the first place? And they were repeatedly screwing up the word that related to what they were talking about. Big deal, I point it out and dare to put a smiley face after it before delving into my opinion on the matter. No one else seems to have their knickers in a twist about it as you do. Get over yourself, orgasmatron.

Christ, you're such a loser.

There is a certain ettiquette to posting on a message board. One of those things is to respect the members of the board. This is where we hang out and for the most part our home on the internet. You walked into our home and the first words out of your mouth was basically "You know the wallpaper doesn't match the carpet and it looks hideous. Anyway..." It was rude to start off criticizing especially when I was the one mispelling it and you clearly never read my signature.

JK merely pointed out your rudeness and continued on. He didn't call you any names or even cursed. You started cursing, however, at someone who was trying to help you by pointing out and thus helping you not make the mistake again. And actually, a lot of people when they first started here, were careful not to be rude and to respect the others on this board.

The only reason no one else yelled at you about it is because JK mentioned it. If you want everyone who found your comment rude and your continuing comments rude, I'm sure that can be arranged.

You also clearly have a thing for continually bringing up the ogasmatron and orgasm references. Is this because you perhaps have never had one? Don't worry. You're right hand will figure it out someday. :)

As much as I like Harry Potter, I kinda doubt this actually is the last book. Though Rowling insists it is, I anxiously await 'Harry Potter and the Application for Night Manager at McDonalds' followed by the eagerly anticipated 'Harry Potter and The Lawyer who Helps Him File for Bankruptcy after Blowing His Cash Flow on a Starbucks franchise When There is Already a Starbucks Franchise Down the Street that the Locals like with the Nice Cashier who gives them Extra Milk Foam In Their Latees".

come on children. do you honestly think Ms. Rowling is going to bring her best selling series to a close? Take a lesson from 'Haloween'. Why make 1 mediocre movie when you can make 14 ? (Not saying that HP is mediocre). Like what is she gonna do after Harry Potter kicks the bucket? Build scultptures out of money? See which credit card company can give her the largest spending limit? I think Harry Potter will be with us for some time.

FanGirl

You know absolutely nothing about anything. She created a story with a beginning, middle and end. She has more money than she knows what to do with. She will makes these books and that will be it. Sure there will be an amusement park and they are going to do a book of all the deleted chapters from all the books, but as the story goes - Harry Potter will not be mass marketed it like Halloween. They aren't even in the same categories.

the.microwave.man

wow, cool off please? Obviously she wrote the books with the ending in mind and how she wanted the series to go. I'm just saying that she most likely will somehow try and stretch it out a bit more. There are all ready rumours circulating about it.

ps. How would you know I know nothing about anything? Because I didnt know Gordon Ramsays biography and made a speculation about the Harry Potter series? For all you know I could have a Ph.D in Physics. (though my terrible grammar probably gives it away lol :( )

Dude, she's has made literally hundreds of millions of dollars already. She doesn't need to write anymore books. She sure as hell doesn't need to lie about it, or try any publicity stunts. Though, she has said that she could make more...She wants it to end now. 5-10 years down the road she may change her mind but I don't see it happening.

couldn't agree more. I wasn't saying she needs more money. I'm just remarking how when Harry Potter is over she is gonna have a hell of a hole to fill in her life. My guess (as well as many others) is she's gonna try and keep on spinning em' out.

btw. I love Harry Potter and am not trying to diss up JK Rowling or the series, I'm just saying its going to be hard imagining no more Harry Potter.

I'm not a fan of the President, but I don't need to be seeing him flipping off a camera and holding a flag. I have family in the military. My cousin is a SeAL over there and my step-brother is in the Navy not to mention the rest of the family is mostly military. I don't like it, but that doesn't mean you don't have the right to express your opinion. You could make it a bit smaller so it's not taking up my whole screen.

So, does anyone else think that Dumbledore's brother will have a big part in the next book.

I think that Dumbledore put alot of his memories into the pensive (sp?) and I think it might lead Harry to his brother. It could be interesting.

I donno...We are 8 days out!

Poor Harry. Everyone's taking bets on his life. Personally I'm just happy if Snape lives. They already killed off two of my favorite characters. He had better not die.

Oh, and Antonio_Bay, I must say I adore your avatar. The Mad Hatter has always been my favorite character from that book. A true odd-ball and a great one at that.

So, I have a theory...Well not really a theory, but more of a fact if you think about it.

We'll know if Snape is really loyal to LV the first time Harry goes after the first Horcrux. If there are not Death Eater's waiting for him, then it is safe to say that LV does not know that Harry and Dumbledore were looking for them, this means Snape did not tell him.

BTW, My geek level has reached a new high point. Borders is having a Harry Potter Party on Friday night, from like 9 until 2am. I am totally going. Not to buy the book, I am going to just see what is up with a Potter Party...Sound fun!

I buy the book at a local 24 hour Grocery Store. I'm there, buy it and gone while everyone is still in line at the book store. This is what happened with the last 2 books.

I read an advance copy of the book. When you reach the second to last chapter of the book, "Don't Stop Believeing" by Journey starts playing, then the pages of the final chapter turn black, preventing you from reading any further or gaining any closure on a series that has run for the better part of a decade. ;)

... this harry potter stuff is so sad. I read the first 4 books, okay stuff i guess. These books really are not worth any of the hype they have. Books that you could read INSTEAD of Harry Potter (that aren't children's books): The Shining by Stephen King, The Stand (also) by Stephen King, The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty, House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, or maybe Books of Blood by Clive Barker (which is an anthology of some really scary shit).

You know what, I honestly could care less. I like the books. I went out tonight, hug out with some friends just like any other normal person, and then stopped off on the way home and bought the new book. And you know what, I would much rather kids addicted to somthing as harmless as Harry Potter than any other substance, legal or illegal, out there. You call it stupid, fine. Interesting list you have there... Oh, uhmm at least two of those authors you mentioned are addicted to Harry Potter as well.

You know what, I honestly could care less. Damn straight, Bams. Sadly, I haven't read one of the HP books. I know I'd probably enjoy them, but I just haven't gotten around to it. But, just as with all likes, and dislikes....to each their own. I've got some younger friends that were at the bookstore last nite. Hell, one of the guitar players that's in a local band, we do shows with here, is in my living room right now reading the new one. Good for him. Everyone needs things like this to look forward to. It makes life a little easier to deal with. Cause you know we're all really crazy. Just some of us handle it a little better than others.

I know Stephen King is pretty big on the series. I like to think for myself, though. Mr. King is probably the most intellegent human being in the world (and he's from New England, too) but i disagree. I'm not like Pat Bateman is over Donald Trump over what King likes.

Missed the point dude....I love Stephen King, I love the Dark Tower series. Again, just because someone likes something that you don't find appealing doesn't mean they don't read other books or are not smart. That is a very shallow mindset to go with deep waters of free thought.
