If you like Warren Ellis' comics and graphic novels then you should check out his debut novel Crooked Little Vein. It is a crazy mystery romp through the US (which I'm pretty sure Ellis traveled the same path to familiarize himself with the surroundings before writing the book.) It has all of the dark twists, technology, occult folklore and questionable sexual practices that you come to expect from Ellis.
