View Full Version : Koontz vs. King

The heavy weight title of the millenium, while king started off good he has sort of fizzled and while koontz started off lame he has grown stronger so that begs the question who is better, I for one enjoyed the Dark Tower series and am really into the whole Odd Thomas thing, what I would love to see is a Odd Thomas and Christopher Snow Team up, that would be so kick ass, and hell a collaboration between king and koontz would be so epic but the odds of that happeneing are well slim to none, anyway I get the feeling this is perhaps the most unread fourum for many reason, but I will post here cause Im an avid reader I read about 3 novels a week since I was oh about 7 so Im really into and since Im already talking about books I might as well mention Im a fan of L.E. Modesitt, and his saga of recluse it is truly fucking awesome, in fact most of His fantasy works are good, and just the fantasy genre as a whole is beyond awesome from Edding to Feist to Gaiman to Modesitt, to Brooks its all fantastic and while I know I am no longer on the original subject I apologize, for the long winded rant type thing, anyway see ya round

First, you'd think in all of that reading, you'd pick up a thing or two about writing...like how to do it so that other's can make sense of it.
Secondly, your big "wonder" that you believed was so important that you felt the need to devote a brand new thread to, is hands down, the most uneven match in history. Well maybe not the MOST uneven. I think Spike Dudley wrestled the Big Show once...but where's Spike now? Exactly.
Koontz can write dialogue really well, but other than that, the guy's a discount drama scribe. He over explains everything and puts exposition where the reader should just naturally learn things via the flow of the narrative.
King is God. Which you would have probably learned, had you taken the time to lurk around and read some threads before you went on your willy and/or nilly thread creating spree that has lasted the past few days. I've been posting here for almost a year and I have created maybe 5 or 6 threads...in a year. Jesus.

He did have some commas in there, so that is a plus...isn't it?

Hey, I tried.

We shouldn't be too harsh on him he seems like a cool poster he has already started ten threads a few of which I have enjoyed very much and I tend to have sympathy because when I first joined up I didn't capitalise certain words like I should have done and at this point I am just rambling and If any one still has not given up on this post then I applaud and apologise for the time you have spent reading it.

Winning? You imply that my friendship for you is part of some sort of contest? For shame. All the same, my heart is now full...full full.

A facility for quotation marks the absense of original thought

And I know I am calling Myself an ass, by doing that, but I rather enjoy making an ass of Myself. As is evident in the above rambling nonsensical comma laced paragraph. As a apology I will now display all the periods I should've used um...in the above rambling nonsensical comma laced paragraph...yeah...

I'm going to try this one more time...since your compass is pointing decidedly douche by douchewest...you're being obnoxious. Either redeem yourself by posting intelligibly...or prepare to catch fire. That's about as close as I get to lending a newb a helping hand. Take it.

Easy lads, a lot of newcomers can try too hard. I'm guessing he's being defensive from all the flak and in return is posting fancy quotes. No big deal.

Having said that, can't capitalize 'myself'. That's like referring to yourself in the third person.

I can't even stand to read a book by Koontz, they're morality tales that are so thinly-veiled that it's barely different from listening to Grandpa talk about "kids these days."
How many times can a broken man with a painful past learn to love again by fighting evil alongside a beautiful woman he was thrown into danger with by chance? And throw in a kid or dog for good measure.
I'm obviously biased, but honestly: King portrays a certain mood so well that his writing has an almost schizophrenic feel to me.
The reading experience is different for everyone, though...
