Children's author Eoin Colfer has been commissioned to write a sixth instalment of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series.

Mostly Harmless, the last Hitchhiker book, was written by its creator, the late Douglas Adams, 16 years ago.

Now Adams's widow, Jane Belson, has given her approval to bring back the hapless Arthur Dent in a new book entitled And Another Thing...

Eoin Colfer, 43, is best known for the best-selling Artemis Fowl novels.

I really don't understand it. To me, it is ok to let a series die with the author. It is frustrating when they add onto a series just to make money and just ruin it.

A sixth installment? I was only aware of two other books. :o

I'm not sure either. But, there have been series in the past where another author has taken up the reins with good results... Ian Fleming's James Bond comes to mind.

Guess we'll see come publication...

Speaking of hitchhikers..

It seems strange especially considering (highlight to read)Douglas killed EVERYONE off in the last book

My dad only got me started on the series, I hadn't gotten too far into it, but that brings up a very good point.
If that is the case, take the idea and start another series. Don't taint The Hitchikers Guide series.

But yeah, why not get him to pen a second flick instead?
Would MUCH prefer to see that

I despise air-brushed nips. So, unkind.

Horrible. Douglas wrote the first 4 books in a span of 5 years, then waited 8 years before writing the final installment, which provides an official and overly conclusive close to the series. Perhaps they're going the prequel route?

This needs to be in the "Mow or not to mow" thread as I would definitely mow her lawn.

Thing is...she's cute and all (I'd play a game of genital pass/catch with her any day)...but she can't act her way out of a paper bag. If she played a mute, I'd watch. But everything I've seen her in has frustrated the shit out of me. Very stilted.

Is she cartoon penguin? Because that would be incredibly appropriate.

Maybe McG can lend a hand in writing?
