Wow. He will definitely be missed. I have probably read Jurassic Park five times. Definitely my favorite stand alone book of all time. A pity that he didn't live to see E.R. finish its final season.

RIP. It's unfortunate that because of the election, most people won't even see this.

Just heard the news. I don't claim to be much of a reader, and I'm notorious for never finishing books that don't live up to my standards. But I've read probably a third of this guy's collection, and finished everyone I started. He was an expert at making the unreal seem real, and created worlds so magnificent that its no wonder most of his works were adapted to the big screen. He'll be missed.

Eaters of the Dead was a fun little read. Crichton could research with the best of them.

Although Timeline was not the best book, (I have not seen the movie) it still had one of the coolest time travel gimmicks ever. Don't build the time machine, just figure out how it will happen. Then the machines will appear, you must have built them in the future. It's like Bill and Ted but with more big words.

I've always had an interest in getting round to buying a copy. I'd like to see how it differs from the movie.

The movie was a tremendously terrible pile of dog droppings.

It's almost a completely different story, with the same premise. I enjoyed both emensly, but the book is more visceral, gritty and dark. I would have loved to see the movie made to tell the same exact story as the book. But, it wouldn't have been nearly as family friendly.
